In 2018, President Donald Trump warned German Chancellor Angela Merkel that Germany would regret becoming overly reliant on Russian energy.

Merkel and most of the rest of the European Union scoffed at Trump’s warning and instead turned over energy policy to “a petulant Scandianvian teenager and a bunch of German ‘greens.’ ” Zero Hedge noted in a July 13 analysis.
