The earthquake struck off the coast of La Placita de Morelos in western Mexico in the Pacific Ocean, USCS reports.
The U.S. Tsunami Warning System issued an alert warning that a tsunami is possible along the coast of Michoacan, Mexico.
In the aftermath, tsunami waves are possible for Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Australia, Japan, and more.
