Editorials In Pakistani Dailies: 'Muslim Countries May Retaliate If Major Powers Fail To Stop Israel's Ongoing Atrocities'; 'Iran… May Well Become A Target Of The Israel-U.S. Axis'
In recent editorials, Pakistani dailies warned that Israel's attacks in Gaza and Lebanon, and possible future strikes in Iran, will lead to a wider war in which many Muslim countries might join.
An editorial titled “Iran's Attack On Israel” in the Pashtu-language daily Worazpanra Wahdat read: “If the major powers and responsible nations such as the United States, China, and Russia do not take action to stop Israel's ongoing atrocities in the region, there is concern that other Muslim countries may retaliate, potentially turning the entire region into a battlefield.”
In an editorial titled “Israel's War,” The News daily noted that countries like Pakistan, which recently obtained an IMF loan to stabilize its economy, might be destabilized, adding: “Commercial ships in the region have already been caught in the crossfire between the Israel-U.S. axis and the Houthis and with missiles flying across the region with more regularity, anyone in the region seeking a stable climate for their economy and overall conditions is in trouble…”
The Urdu daily Roznama Jasarat, which is published by Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, said in an editorial titled “The Dire Situation In Gaza” that Israeli has not been able to establish its occupation on Palestine. “The prime minister of Israel and the head of his army were arrogant that, we would wipe out the remaining mujahideen of Hamas with our military might; and after that, the war will also stop, our occupation and domination will be established over the rest of Palestine as well, but this could not happen,” it added.

Following is the text of the editorial, as translated from Pashtu:
“The Most Appropriate And Effective Way To Stop The Violence Is By Halting Israeli Aggression And Establishing A Permanent Ceasefire”
“In response to the martyrdom of Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Iran fired hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel, sending a clear message to the Israel that they will not remain silent in the face of ongoing cruelties in the region.
“The missile attack by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard targeted three military bases in Tel Aviv. Sirens blared across Israel, and Israelis sought shelter in bunkers. Reports indicate that only two people suffered minor injuries. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that next attacks will be even more painful. Similarly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that by attacking Israel, Iran has made a significant mistake and will have to pay the price.
“The wave of Israel's oppression of Palestinians has continued for a long time. The Hamas attack under Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against Israel in October last year killed up to 1,200 people, with Hamas capturing hundreds of Israelis. In response, Israel launched a massive ground and air campaign in Gaza, killing over 41,000 Palestinians, including women and children, and injuring hundreds of thousands more.”

At Moscow Format Meeting, Afghan Taliban Foreign Minister Amin Khan Muttaqi: 'The Ruling International Order Has Failed To Prevent The Indiscriminate Murder Of The Oppressed People Of Gaza By The Zionist Regime'; 'China Became The First Country To Accept Ambassador Of The Islamic Emirate'
On October 4, 2024, Russia hosted the sixth Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan, at which Afghan Taliban Foreign Minister Mullah Amin Khan Muttaqi was the chief guest. Begun in 2017, the closed-door meeting was attended this year by senior officials from China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Addressing the meeting, the Taliban foreign minister praised Moscow for launching this series of talks “at a time when the situation in Afghanistan was uncertain and concerning” and added: “The Moscow Format has undoubtedly played an effective role by providing the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan with the opportunity to talk and hold discussions with influential countries in the region and beyond even prior to Afghanistan's independence” from U.S. and NATO in 2021.
Speaking about how the Taliban government was gradually gaining legitimacy, Mullah Amin Khan Muttaqi said: “After the People's Republic of China became the first country to accept the ambassador of the Islamic Emirate at the beginning of this year. We succeeded in dispatching our diplomats at the ambassador level to the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Uzbekistan following bilateral agreements.” The Taliban minister also used the occasion to criticize the international community for not preventing Israel's attacks in Gaza.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov presided over the meeting.
Following is the text of Muttaqi's speech:
“It Is Also Noteworthy That Kazakhstan And The Kyrgyz Republic Have Removed The Name Of The 'Taliban Movement'… From The List Of Banned Groups”
“Respected representatives of the member and host countries of the 6th Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan,
“Good morning to you all.
“At the outset, allow me to express my gratitude to the government of the Russian Federation for inviting the Islamic Emirate to the 6th Moscow Format Consultations as well, to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its warm hospitality, and to the Foreign Minister Mr. Lavrov.
“The Russian government initiated the Moscow format at a time when the situation in Afghanistan was uncertain and concerning. The Moscow Format has undoubtedly played an effective role by providing the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan with the opportunity to talk and hold discussions with influential countries in the region and beyond even prior to Afghanistan's independence, hence the Islamic Emirate has always attended these meetings at a senior level.”

Palestinian Ambassador To Bangladesh Yousef Ramadan: 'Iran And Hizbullah Are Significant Powers, And No One Knows The Scale Of Russia's Involvement If Israel Were To Use 'Unconventional' Weapons'
In a recent article published by a Bangladeshi daily before the September 24 assassination of Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah, the Palestinian ambassador to Dhaka, Yousef Ramadan, castigated Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the failure of ceasefire deals with Hamas on Gaza.
“By taking ceasefire deals off the table, manipulating the U.S. and the West, Netanyahu may just be poised to engineer his dreams professionally. Iran is aware of the depth of the impasse and that the U.S. carriers have been sent with the aim of messaging, not with the aim of igniting a war. But Netanyahu's actions have left Iran with very few options: to respond or not to respond,” the Palestinian ambassador wrote.
In the article, titled “Why The Israel-Hamas Ceasefire Keeps Failing,” Ramadan also stated: “Netanyahu knows that a ceasefire deal would grant safety to Israeli citizens as well, but it conflicts with his aim of provoking a wider war with Iran.” The Palestinian ambassador also warned that Russia could be involved if Israel starts a war against Iran.

Following are excerpts from the report:
“The War… In Many Ways, Is Considered An 'American War' With The U.S.'s Involvement, Backing And Major Backtracking From Any Solution Proposed Beforehand”
“Netanyahu has handcuffed every mediator of ceasefire deals, especially the U.S., by imposing conditions that Hamas will not accept, and conditions that he knows Hamas will not accept. The U.S. has failed time and again to exert any real pressure – under a weak president – to make Israel agree to a ceasefire deal; Joe Biden remarked in Time magazine, as recently as in early June [2024], that there is 'every reason' to draw the conclusion that Netanyahu is prolonging the war for his own political self-preservation.
“Everything that has happened in the past few years has proven a fact that the U.S. cannot deny, which is that the main weapon in Netanyahu's hand is the laxity in U.S. diplomacy toward Israel, which has now morphed into a culture of deference.
“The war, however, in many ways, is considered an 'American war' with the U.S.'s involvement, backing and major backtracking from any solution proposed beforehand. But political calculations regarding the dynamics with Netanyahu suggest that it is now increasingly unobtainable for the U.S., under this administration, to end the war. One could argue that [U.S. Secretary of State Antony] Blinken's efforts at so-called 'peace' would have been more successful had he carried bags of rice and flour in his giant jet and given it to starving Palestinians in Gaza, instead of flying thousands of kilometers to talk and have expensive yet futile conversations.”
