Yesterday, Elon Musk said that he would unban President Trump’s Twitter account once he acquires the social media company. Musk has pledged to bring significant changes to Twitter once he takes over, including making the platform more free-speech friendly, adding an edit button, and firing hundreds of woke employees who oppose his reforms.
Today, ex Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey backed Musk’s decision on his Twitter account. Dorsey said there shouldn’t be permanent bans on individual Twitter users outside of users engaging in spam or network manipulation.
Dorsey was one of the founders of Twitter and the CEO until activist investors pushed for his ouster last year. Twitter’s current CEO, Parag Agrawal, has signaled his indifference towards free speech in the past, saying Twitter’s job is to be a ‘responsible’ curator of content rather than to uphold free speech principles.
