President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance are scheduled to announce a new $25 million Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program on October 20, 2026.
Under the program, known as WHIP, members of the public who submit tips through fraud.gov that lead to a federal fraud conviction or significant enforcement action can receive up to $30,000. The Justice Department will administer the initiative.
The announcement is part of an ongoing effort by the administration to combat fraud in federal programs. Trump created a fraud task force in March and placed Vance in charge of it. White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said the task force is focused on stopping the abuse of taxpayer dollars and that the administration has “zero tolerance” for those who steal from Americans.
During the Oval Office event, Trump is expected to present a $10,000 check to investigative vlogger Nick Shirley. Shirley previously highlighted alleged fraud involving childcare centers in Minnesota’s Somali community that were collecting federal subsidies.
Tips must result in a guilty verdict or plea, or a significant federal action, for the reward to be paid.
