Three people were seriously injured in an explosion and fire at Intel’s manufacturing facility in Kiryat Gat, southern Israel, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
Israel Fire and Rescue Services received a report at 2:12 p.m. of thick black smoke and an explosion at the plant on Avatz Boulevard. Eight firefighting and rescue teams, including specialized hazardous-materials units, were dispatched to search for anyone trapped, contain the blaze, and monitor for dangerous substances.
Southern District police said the fire may have been caused by a gas-cylinder explosion and that investigators were examining a possible hazardous-materials leak. Officers secured the site, conducted searches, and directed traffic while emergency crews continued their work. The three injured individuals were evacuated to hospital.
Authorities had not yet determined the precise cause of the explosion and urged the public to avoid the area while operations remained underway.
