MS NOW has retracted a report that claimed FBI Director Kash Patel landed in Russia on October 14, 2026.
During a morning broadcast, host Peter Alexander announced what he described as breaking news that Patel “has landed in Russia for a meeting scheduled to take place there,” citing two anonymous sources “familiar with the matter.”
The FBI quickly disputed the claim, posting video and photos showing Patel at a law enforcement appreciation event at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Members of Congress also shared images of themselves with Patel at the same event. The FBI stated on X that the network’s sources were “familiar with NOTHING.”
Later the same day, MS NOW reporter Ken Dilanian appeared on air and issued a correction: “We’ve since learned that Patel did not, in fact, land in Russia today and remains in the U.S.” He added, “We regret this error, and we are transparent about when we make errors.”
Dilanian noted that prior reports had mentioned a possible future meeting in Russia that had drawn concern from some Democratic lawmakers, but confirmed Patel had not traveled there that day. The network removed related video content and posted the apology.
Patel responded by criticizing the network for inaccurate reporting and later called for apologies to the FBI, law enforcement, and the American people.
