President Trump was asked for an update on the war, and he condemned the actions by Putin.
“I don’t know what the hell happened to Putin. I’ve known him a long time, always gotten along with him, but he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don’t like it at all,” Trump said.
He further noted that this comes as they’re “in the middle of” negotiating an end to the war, and he’s “very surprised” by the move.
The President was also asked about an apparent drone assassination attempt against Putin. Russian Air Force Major-General Yuri Dashkin said that Putin’s helicopter was “virtually at the epicenter of repelling a large-scale attack by the enemy’s drones,” and that 46 drones were shot down during the attack on Sunday.
Trump said he hadn’t heard about it yet, “but maybe that would be a reason.” It is unclear if he meant Russian attacks were the reason behind the attempt, or the contrary, that Russia was attacking because of such Ukrainian aggression.
