Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard says the U.S. is pursuing truth in UFO probes and promises public updates when possible.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stated she believes extraterrestrial life could exist and pledged to release findings from ongoing UFO investigations as national interest in the phenomena continues to surge.
In an Aug. 6 interview <podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/tulsi-gabbard-russiagate-obamas-revenge-hillarys-vendetta/id1818418128?i=1000720874242> on the New York Post’s “Pod Force One” podcast, Gabbard acknowledged, “I have my own views and opinions,” adding, “Yes,” when asked directly if she thought aliens might exist. While she emphasized she had no revelations to share, she vowed transparency when disclosures become appropriate.
“We’re continuing to look for the truth and share that truth with the American people,” she said.
Gabbard, who oversees 18 intelligence agencies, pointed to the unresolved nature of a wave of drone sightings in New Jersey and other states in recent years. Referencing the official statement <www.faa.gov/newsroom/dhs-fbi-faa-dod-joint-statement-ongoing-response-reported-drone-sightings> that most were attributed to lawful aircraft, she remarked, “I just personally still have a lot of questions that are unanswered.”
The comments come amid renewed high-level U.S. government interest in unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). President Donald Trump has repeatedly addressed the topic in recent years, stating during a 2024 appearance on Lex Fridman’s podcast <lexfridman.com/donald-trump-transcript/#chapter15_ufos_jfk> that he would consider pushing the Pentagon to declassify more UFO-related materials.
“Oh yeah, sure, I’ll do that. I would do that. I’d love to do that,” Trump said, linking the push for disclosure to similar public demands surrounding the JFK assassination.
On Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive” podcast in 2024, Trump expressed a cautious curiosity. “Am I a believer? No, I can’t say I am,” he said. “But I have met with people, serious people, that say there’s some really strange things flying around out there.”
Vice President JD Vance has also voiced strong interest, telling Fox News’ “Ruthless” podcast <www.foxnews.com/video/6376435069112> that he is “obsessed” with unexplained aerial footage and is committed to digging deeper. Joking that he might bring the show’s hosts to Area 51, Vance said, “What’s actually going on? What were those videos all about?”
The Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) continues to investigate over 1,600 UAP reports. At a November 2024 Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, AARO Director Jon T. Kosloski highlighted both explained and unexplained cases, including a stationary metallic cylinder “the size of a commercial airplane” and a black orb that shot vertically into the sky without a sound.
Kosloski concluded that while most incidents involve conventional objects like drones or birds, “we do have some very anomalous objects—it’s just the nature of resolution.”
Gabbard’s remarks, along with those of top administration officials, underscore growing bipartisan curiosity and public appetite for answers about what may lie beyond Earth—and in the skies above.
