Israel claims it has attacked Iranian weapons production sites and key nuclear infrastructure, as the two nations continue their stand-off which started last week.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has said the strikes targeted a facility used to manufacture centrifuges in Tehran, which could allow the country to increase the scale and speed of uranium enrichment. The scale of the damage is unclear.
Meanwhile, the Iranian military has launched several missile and drone strikes of its own at Israel. One strike reportedly included the advanced hypersonic Fattah projectile, which Tehran claims penetrated Israeli air defenses.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Operation Rising Lion – a series of missile attacks on Iran – which has significantly damaged the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. West Jerusalem claims it has struck key nuclear sites at Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow, though the extent of the damage remains unclear.
Iran has reported at least 585 deaths since the hostilities began last Friday. Israeli officials have reported 24 deaths.
According to Western media reports, US President Donald Trump, a long-time ally of Israel, is not ruling out direct military intervention in the conflict. Trump claims that *“we now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran,”* and has demanded *“unconditional surrender.”*
Russia has condemned Israel’s initial airstrikes and called for deescalation. President Vladimir Putin spoke with Trump by phone over the weekend. According to Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov, the two discussed the possibility of reviving negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program.

The US military has begun airlifting some diplomats and their family members from the American embassy in Israel, ABC News reports, citing unnamed State Department officials.
*“Given the ongoing situation and as part of the Embassy’s authorized departure status, Mission personnel have begun departing Israel through a variety of means,”* a State Department spokesperson said. Those evacuated reportedly include Chief of Mission personnel, with additional military evacuation flights anticipated in the coming days.
The Diplomatic Security Service is reportedly assisting with the logistics and security of the operation. According to two senior officials, discussions are underway within the State Department about the possibility of a full evacuation, though any final decision would come from the White House.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has put his cabinet on alert, warning that a US attack on Iran may be imminent, the Financial Times has reported, citing anonymous officials familiar with the proceedings.
British officials are concerned that the US will carry out an attack from the joint US-UK air base at Diego Garcia, according to the outlet.
The air base currently hosts six US B2-Spirit stealth bombers, the only aircraft currently capable of carrying America’s massive 30,000-pound (13,600 kg) MOP bunker buster bombs, which would be needed to penetrate Iran’s deeply entrenched Fordow nuclear facility.
London sees the situation as *“grave and volatile”* and is concerned that any US strikes by these bombers could draw the UK into the conflict, according to FT.

*“We’re well beyond ‘ceasefire’… A ceasefire means everything is going swimmingly, let’s take a little time off. We’re not looking for a ceasefire, we’re looking for a total, complete victory,”** Trump told journalists in Washington.*
Tehran not having a nuclear weapon would constitute such a *“victory,”* he added.

US President Donald Trump’s style of laying out maximalist demands may have worked in his business dealings, but talking with Iran works differently, Valdai Discussion Club Research Director Fyodor Lukyanov has said.
*Trump “now says that Iran has to accept everything Americans are proposing or face fatal and terminal consequences,” he told RT.*

Israel has struck 20 military, industrial and research sites in the Iranian capital, the IDF has claimed.

Israel is increasingly striking targets unrelated to its stated military goals in Iran, French President Emmanuel Macron has reportedly stated.
*The president has “expressed his concern about the ongoing escalation, with Israeli strikes increasingly attacking targets unrelated to Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear programs, and a growing number of civilian casualties in Iran and Israel,” French channel TF1 reports.*
Macron reportedly added that a lasting resolution of the issues surrounding Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear programs can *“only be achieved through negotiation.”*

Tehran has begun using super-heavy, long-range, two-stage Sejjil missiles against Israel, Iranian state news agency IRNA has reported, citing a statement from Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.
Earlier in the day, footage posted to social media showed a two-stage missile launch from Iran.
Israeli media have reported that the missile has been intercepted, citing a military official.

It’s no surprise that Iran has responded to Trump’s demand for surrender with outrage, Former British Ambassador to Iran, Richard Dalton said in an interview with Al Jazeera.
*“That is what you’d expect from any undefeated country, and that is what you’d expect from Iran,”** the diplomat said.*
*“These threats to its identity, to its continued existence, this damage to civilian facilities, not just military or potentially nuclear ones, has clearly enraged people in Tehran and not just supporters of the system of government in Iran,”** Dalton said.*
