*A major U.S. company is offering $10,000 raises to anyone who decides to make the full-time return to the office. Cameo, which is based out of Chicago, Illinois, has made the offer to all of its eligible employees.*
*The celebrity video-greeting app company wants workers back in the office from Monday to Thursday. In exchange, those who comply with the new in-office rules will be given a nice low five-figure raise.*
*Cameo CEO Steven Galanis spoke to CNBC Make It about the decision to offer the raise. He wanted people to view coming into the office headquarters as a perk and not a punishment.*
*″‘Roll out the red carpet’ is our first corporate value, and we really felt like we wanted to make HQ a perk, not a punishment,” Galanis said <www.cnbc.com/2025/02/20/cameo-is-giving-workers-a-10000-raise-to-go-into-the-office-4-times-a-week.html>. “We know we’re asking more out of you to give up the flexibility, and we wanted to compensate you for it.”*
*A $10,000 raise isn’t all the in-office employees are getting, either. The company has also boosted the perks at headquarters. In-office workers will be treated to free lunch, free parking and access to an onsite gym.*
*Cameo believes that the $10,000 raise is “significant” for everyone. *
*“That might be the difference between them being able to get an apartment in the city or having to take the train because they live with their parents in the suburbs,” Galanis added.*
*The celebrity video-greeting app has 50 employees, though only 26 in Chicago. So, only roughly two dozen employees were eligible for the $10,000 raise. *
*“If you live in Chicagoland, you are four days a week in-office — there wasn’t an option on that. And in exchange, we give you a $10,000 raise,” Galanis said.*
*He added: “If you wanted to move, you could do that.”*
*Of course, many U.S. workers would probably take a little bit less money if it meant they could work from home and save on transportation cost, food and, most importantly, time. *
*Still, a $10,000 raise to come into work and do your job is a pretty solid offer from Cameo.*
