*Ukraine* <www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/ukraine> is on the brink of agreeing a major deal to sign away up to 50% of its mineral supplies to the US in a major stride towards peace.
And the* European Union* <www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/european-union> is reportedly making moves to secure its own deal for a share of *Ukraine’s mineral wealth* <www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/ukraine>. Officials in Kyiv said President Zelensky is planning on visiting the White House on Friday to finalise the agreement.
Since Mr Trump’s return to the White House, US-Ukrainian relations have become increasingly strained but Kyiv officials hope the minerals move will improve relations.
Stephane Sejourne, the EU’s industry commissioner said: “Twenty-one of the 30 critical materials Europe needs can be provided by *Ukraine* <www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/ukraine> in a win-win partnership. The added value Europe offers is that we will never demand a deal that’s not mutually beneficial.”
